Toddington Manor Lodge

Heritage Interior Decoration

Toddington Manor Lodge, an honour and a privilege is the only way we can describe the opportunity to rejuvenate this heritage building. As a piece of history in its own right, it has now become an important part of the history of Grays Decorating. This 18th century property required plenty of work, so the protection and preparation began. Taking great care to preserve its historical features, we spent plenty of time preparing each and every part of the property for painting. Due to a new floor installation, the skirting in the lounge and hallway was removed, lowered to the appropriate height, reinstated, and architrave blocks installed to the bottom of door frames. Many repairs were carried out, especially to the eye catching centrepiece, the sitting room arched window. Due to the inevitable leaks these historical properties are subjected to, stain blocking was required in multiple areas. Once ready, painting could begin, a straight colour match was requested by our client, requiring us to procure a sample from the walls, and the woodwork, to laser scan and mix into a reliable quality trade product. With the best colour matches chosen, the ceilings were finished in a flat matt, walls in durable matt, and woodwork in a waterborne eggshell to maintain the historic, regal feel of this unique property. With all decorating work complete, the property was thoroughly cleaned, and proudly returned to the client.
