16th Century Bedroom

Interior Decoration

Grays Decorating was off to Grimscote for this Beautiful bedroom! This property has been around since the 16th century, accumulating charm as it has aged. The first order of business as always is the protection stage, then surface preparation. Due to the age of this property a fair amount of preparation work was required, a whole range of products were used to make extensive repairs. Many surfaces needed to be sealed using Zinsser Guardz, and Tikkurila Optiva Primer, such as the lime plaster. Once all surfaces were sound, the painting and oiling could begin, Two Coats Osmo Polyx Oil Clear Matt were applied to all of the gorgeous oak beams, window, interior door and rear door. Then using Q1 precision line tape and HB42 Caulk, all oak was masked up, and caulked, allowing for perfect razor-sharp lines upon the demasking. The ceilings were then finished using Tikkurila Nova 2, mixed into Farrow and Ball Wimborne White, then the walls were finished using Tikkurila Vinyl Matt, mixed into Farrow and Ball Cinder Rose. It was then time to demask all the Oak, revealing the stunning razor-sharp lines. To maintain the traditional aesthetic of the property, all other woodwork such as the doorframe, skirting, and single window, were finished in the subtle, low sheen Tikkurila Everal Aqua 10. With all decorating complete, it was time to clear the area, and return this unique bedroom to the client.
